The Nokia 2220 Slide is a slide opening mobile phone, which comes with a smooth slide out section that reveals its numeric keypad. When the slide casing is in its slide closed position the user can view the TFT screen and use the navigation key, menu keys and call keys which are all located below the screen. The TFT screen measures 1.8 Inches and displays up to 65 thousand colours for the user to enjoy on their fashionable slider phone. The user can enjoy viewing colourful wallpapers as their background and the user will be able to customise their theme for a more personalised feel to their phone. With a screen resolution of 128 x 160 pixels the user will be able to enjoy a clear viewing experience.

The Nokia 2220 comes with a built in Internet browser that supports WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML browsing. The user can stay in contact with others via the built in email service which allows the user to create, share, receive and store their emails on their handset. The Nokia 2220 comes with a built in music player which allows the user to enjoy their own choice of music on their phone and will be able to make sure of the supported formats which include MP3 and AAC. The Nokia 2220 Slide also supports ringtones in MP3 format for a clear sound experience. The handset also comes with an integrated FM radio and the user can tune into their preferred radio station when they wish to tune in and listen to up to date news, music and traffic reports. The radio is also equipped with an RDS feature, which allows the user to view information on their handset screen. This information, if it is available from the radio station, will have broadcast details relevant to the station.

The Nokia 2220 Slide comes with 32 MB of Internal memory, however, the handset does not come equipped with a card slot, so the user will need to use their handsets memory sensibly. The handset does come with a 3.5 mm audio jack to allow the user to listen to their music or connect a headset. The battery provided allows the user to enjoy approximately 480 hours of battery standby time or about 5 hours 20 minutes talk time from a fully charged battery. The size of the Nokia 2220 Slide is rather compact due to its slide opening design and it only measures 97.4 x 47 x 15.9 mm when in its slide closed position. The 2220 Slide weighs 93.5 grams with its fitted battery which makes it a lightweight weight mobile phone for carrying purposes.
